LONGWY - Grand Orgue

1925 Didier

28/III
Mécanichal action, Barker machine

2003-2004 Restoration

Organ adviser:  Christian Lutz

Opening recital : Olivier Latry

The organ of Saint-Dagobert in Longwy was made by François Didier in 1927 using nineteenth-century techniques.  Soon after it was made the instrument was already unplayable and it became clear that serious mistakes in its design and construction had been made.  During the 1970s, the organ was modified along neo-classical lines.
When the instrument was being restored in 2003-4, the builder was specifically asked to retain the neo-classical additions and improve them so that they would fit in better with the tonal structure.  The organ was completely dismantled and taken to our workshop, apart form the case, the main frame and the winding.
The opening recital was given in June 2004 by Oliver Latry.
